⚡ The Short Version

The high G doubling is the odd one out: its real theme note is F, not high G. Every other doubling from F and down keeps its theme note as the note you land on; the high G doubling is the exception, and that's what makes it counterintuitive at first.

I play it as a high G gracenote straight to F, then lift off — not as a strike on F. That order puts the emphasis on F and gives me a precise, clean sound, even though I've seen it taught the other way with an F strike.

The whole trick is lifting all three top-hand fingers together, not one at a time. If I lift the gracenote finger first and then try to switch to F, I get scissoring and a crossing noise — lifting everything at once and dropping only the one finger for F keeps it clean.
