Moonshine

⚡ The Short Version

Two traditional parts, two of my own. Moonshine's first two parts are traditional and of unknown origin; I heard them performed by world champion piper Alasdair Gillies and wrote a third and fourth part to complete the tune.

A round-style hornpipe with a piobaireachd borrow. The 16th notes stay even throughout, and the second part features a chedre — a movement borrowed from piobaireachd, played like a reversed E doubling.

Keep your hands loose for clean, fast doublings. The E doubling from F, in particular, only stays clean at speed if your top hand stays relaxed and the gracenotes lift off the chanter with ease.
