The Dawning of the Day
⚡ The Short Version
A classic Irish 4/4 march. The Dawning of the Day is based on a traditional Irish song and follows standard 4/4 rhythm — quarter notes, even eighth-note pairs, and dot-cut pairs, with several tied notes to watch.
A piobaireachd-style gracenote move. One recurring detail is an E-D-C passage where the D is written as a gracenote rather than a full note, since you can't normally play a gracenote on a lower note — a move borrowed from piobaireachd style.
An optional 6/4 ending. The last line can be played with one bar of 6/4 time, holding the final F for two extra beats for a dramatic finish — or you can skip it and stay in straight 4/4 throughout.
