Bagpipe Essentials Collection #16: Doubling Strikes
⚡ The Short Version
This is the most advanced variety of strike — two gracenotes plus a strike. It's built from a G gracenote and an E gracenote before the strike itself, and it's especially common in hornpipes, though it appears in other tune types too.
It doesn't have one widely agreed-on name. I call it a doubling strike; others call it a tripling or the hornpipe movement, but no name is universally standard.
Listen for a triplet "bop-bop-bop" sound with the two repeated notes equal in length. The two occurrences of the theme note within the movement need to match in length, finishing cleanly on the third one.
