Auld Lang Syne

The Short Version

Everyone already knows this tune — that makes the rhythm the whole job. Written here as a 4/4 air with four quarter-note beats per bar. If you can sing it, playing it correctly is just a matter of getting the right notes with the right beat count.
Watch the tied-note combinations closely. A quarter note tied to an eighth note is held for a beat and a half; a half note tied to a quarter note (as in bar four of the first part) is held for three full beats.
One phrase jumps up an octave because the pipe scale has no note below low G. In bar seven, the sung melody actually drops lower — since the chanter can't go there, the same note is played an octave higher instead.
