This is a live, first-look unboxing of a genuine antique set of Peter Henderson bagpipes. I open the box on camera without having seen the pipes in person before, working from an appraiser's letter dating them to roughly 1905-1910 and a 1906 photograph believed to show this exact set.
Cocus wood, ivory mounts, and hand-finish details help date and authenticate old bagpipes. I point out the reddish cocus wood used before African Blackwood became standard, the cross-hatched grain of real elephant ivory, and a distinctive double-pinstripe pattern below the projecting mounts as possible identifying clues.
A complete original set with its original chanter is extremely rare for pipes this old. Most surviving antique sets lost their original chanter over a century of use — finding this one intact, in near-mint condition, is what I call a real treat.
