The Northern Meeting at Inverness is one of the world's most prestigious piping competitions. Pipers compete in tiers: Gold Medal, Gold Clasp, and Silver Medal for Piobaireachd, plus B, A, and Former Winners for light music.
Judges select tunes from a piper's submitted list just before performance. This competition format requires year-long preparation and final backstage practice time.
