Rounded dot-cuts and rounded doublings are usually the same problem wearing two disguises. Cutting a note harder tends to make the doubling after it feel tighter, and opening a doubling tends to make the note before it feel longer. The fix is to deliberately separate the two moves rather than let your hands link them automatically.
Third parts are where tunes fall apart, so that's exactly where you push harder, not ease off. Many two-four marches (and plenty of other tune types) load extra bottom-hand technique into the third part. The instinct is to slow down and round out there — the fix is to keep driving the tempo and keep the dot-cut strong.
A metronome is a diagnostic tool, not just a timekeeper. If you always rush or always drag at one specific spot in a tune, that's rarely a pure timing habit — it's usually a technical or postural problem hiding underneath, and the metronome is how you find it.
