Get the Pipes Out! — January 23, 2023

The Short Version

This is a play-along class, not a lecture. I have everyone get their pipes out, run a quick maintenance check, and physically play through drills and tune together in real time.
The whole session builds one hard bar of "Susan MacLeod" from the ground up. A tricky passage gets broken into a birl, a GDE triplet, a grip to B, and a darado — each drilled alone before being pieced together like building blocks.
Blowing pressure has an audible answer. The class and I work out that the high A is the most sensitive indicator of correct pipe pressure — find where it sings, note the Bagpipe Gauge reading, then hold that pressure through the whole scale.
