Build a clever storage dispenser for your bagpipe hemp

⚡ The Short Version

An empty dental floss case makes a great hemp dispenser once a roll is halfway used. It protects the hemp, keeps the end from unraveling everywhere, and even has a built-in cutter — the only problem is a fresh full roll is too big to fit.

A plastic chanter tube solves the fresh-roll problem, holding a full roll of hemp with room to spare. I first started just storing hemp loose in an old chanter tube, which already kept it contained and easy to grab.

Mounting a floss dispenser's cutting blade onto the tube turns it into a real dispenser, no scissors needed. With yellow hemp on one end and black on the other, you can pull out exactly the length you need and cut it cleanly right at the tube.
