The judge's comments matter more than the placing. A placing depends on how everyone else in the field happened to play that day; the written feedback is the part that's actually about you and is worth taking to heart, good or bad.
Crushed doublings usually mean too much finger tension, not too little practice. When gracenotes come out mashed together instead of clean and separated, the fix is almost always relaxing the hand and slowing down — not simply repeating the passage more times.
Give yourself a day to enjoy a good performance before dissecting it. Borrowing an idea from a comedian's approach to jokes, holding off on self-critique for a day after a strong performance protects the enjoyment of the moment before the analytical brain takes over.
