Bob's core teaching principle, carried over from thirty years in the classroom, is to deliver the same idea multiple ways — auditory, written, and physical — because different players need different doors into the same fix.
Bob's single best trick for a gracenote that keeps freezing a student mid-phrase: skip the start and go straight to the hardest note first. Going to the end point and nailing it, then working backward to the beginning, tricks the brain past the moment where a player usually seizes up — Bob says it works on nearly every student, almost every time.
