I was recently teaching a lesson and my student (who is a member of this Studio) was struggling to play through his new tune on the practice. He became exasperated and finally exclaimed "I was just playing this at home!" I told him that we all feel that way at one time or another. Most of us feel the comfortable at home, so that's where we play our best. In a lesson situation, we're often distracted by the different surroundings and by the internal voice that says "don't make a mistake! the teacher is watching!"
