Use teflon plumber’s tape on your drone slides for finer tuning adjustments

In addition to the waxed hemp and dental floss that we use on our bagpipe joints, I like to use a thin layer of Teflon plumber's tape on my tuning slides. Teflon is used for a variety of applications such as non-stick cooking pans and lubrication. It works perfectly for the tuning slides as it provides a tight but smooth seal and is self-threading. This allows you to turn your drone top in one direction to move the drone down and in the other direction to move it up. I recommend NOT using Teflon tape anywhere else. The top slide on the bass drone isn't used for tuning, so you won't need it there. The other joints should be snug and tight, so I recommend using waxed hemp of dental floss, not Teflon. Check it out! Have you used Teflon tape on your pipes? Thoughts? Comments? Questions? Concerns? Please post in the comments below!
