Bagpipe Essentials Collection #11: GDE Gracenotes

The Short Version

The GDE gracenote combination is everywhere in piping. It shows up in jigs, 6/8 marches, strathspeys, and reels, and it's built into other embellishments like the taorluath — which makes it worth being really good at.
It's a chain of three gracenotes: high G, D, then E. Each gracenote should have the same tiny weight and length — the only thing that changes between them is the pitch.
Practice it slow before playing it fast. I keep the overall timing slow while practicing, listening for each gracenote in the chain to sound identical in size and weight to the others.
