Today's featured exercise: Power Taorluaths. If you've played the other exercises in our exclusive Power series, you'll be familiar with the 8-4-2-1 pattern. Taorluaths are one of the most common embellishments found in pipe tunes, and often a challenge to get strong and clean and consistent. The Taorluath is played: 1. Starting note 2. Low G 3. D grace note on Low G 4. E grace note to final note The starting note can be any note. The final note is usually Low A, but it can also be C, B, or very rarely Low G. Special exception: when the starting note is D, the grace note in Step 3 is B (ring finger) instead of D. The correct triplet has a 1-2-3 triplet rhythm.
