Last night I performed with the rest of the SFU Pipe Band to raise funds and awareness for brain cancer research and care. The Pipe Up for Cancer concert and ceilidh were both sold out and the concert was streamed live online and are still available to watch (see below). The event was inspired by one of our pipers, Andrew Bonar, who is currently undergoing treatment for brain cancer. Nearly the entire band shaved their heads to show our support. Last night we raised nearly $40,000 dollars for the BC Cancer Foundation through ticket sales, merchandise, and a silent auction. I was pleased to donate a membership to the BagpipeLessons.com Studio. The donations are still pouring in from around the world as thousands watch the concert online and send in their support. Thank you to everyone who has already contributed. You can read more about Andrew's diagnosis and treatment in his own words at Pipes|Drums. ...
