Self-record to get an honest listen to your tunes.

As we've discussed previously here on the Studio, one of keys to effective deliberate practice is careful analysis of your current skills so that you can identify the next steps for improvement. One of the best ways to get an honest listen to your playing is by self-recording. You assignment over the next few days: Make video recordings of your tunes. Whether or not you are preparing to enter the online competition, take some time over the next few days to make 1-3 separate recordings of yourself playing your tunes. Your goal is not to play perfectly, but to get a baseline for your current standard of play, and to help set direction for your upcoming practices. We'll have the opportunity to share and listen to each others recordings later. Set aside at least an hour of uninterrupted time to accomplish all of today's objectives.
