Scotland Tour 2011 Update: The World Pipe Band Championships

Yesterday was the biggest even of the year for the pipe band world, The World Pipe Band Championships. I played with the six-time World Champion Simon Fraser University Pipe Band and we placed second to Field Marshall Montgomery from Northern Ireland. The University sent two photographers and filmmakers with us to document the trip. There are some really great photos here on Flickr. Competition pipe bands are graded from Grade 4B (the lowest), 4A, 3B, 3A, 2, and 1 (the top level). There are also two categories for bands with members age 18 and under: Novice Juvenile and Juvenile. The Grade One competition is the most prestigious event and it was broadcast live on the web via the BBC Scotland Website.
