The World Pipe Band Championships for 2013 is now in the history books. The band I play with, the SFU Pipe Band, was fourth overall in the Grade One category. On one hand, fourth in the world is a great accomplishment. On the other hand, it's our lowest finish in many years and only the bands second time out of the top three in a couple decades. So what happened? Congratulations to the winning bands and to all of the bands that competed in all the grades. This year, the worlds took place over two days. Some bands played on Saturday only, other bands on Sunday only. All of the Grade One bands played twice on Saturday and the top six from each of the two heats played twice again in final on Sunday.
