GDEs are a combination of gracenotes found almost everywhere in pipe tunes: jigs, reels, strathspeys, marches. Today let's do some important work on GDEs -- the foundation of many tunes. Today's goal: deliberate practice towards achieving clear, clean, consistent GDEs. The GDE gracenote combination can be played on the same note: Or on changing notes: Regardless of the melody notes, each gracenote of the GDE should be identical in size. Make sure that the D and E gracenotes are just as crisp and clear as the G gracenote. Rhythmically, the gracenotes should be evenly spaced so that the three melody notes are identical in length.
