New Exercise: Rhythmic Patterns in 2/4 Marches, Strathspeys, and Reels
Nov 18, 2011 Audio Recordings,Downloads,Exercises,Expression,Fingering & Technique
Today's exercise features some intermediate to advanced level rhythmic patterns commonly found in 2/4 Marches, Strathspeys, and Reel. I hope you'll find lots of areas for potential improvement — in execution, finger control, expression, and timing. Many common problem areas are featured: GDEs, tachums, ascending and descending sequences, tachums, triplets, and more! Download the exercise and take a listen to the recordings below, where I play each of the three sections in full. You'll notice that the exercise is written out by hand. Good training for the eyes and for sight-reading. I was given this by a student at a workshop I taught a few years ago, and fixed a few typos. If you find any others, please let me know. If anyone wants to take the initiative to typeset it properly, let me know. Thanks! 2/4 Marches: Strathspeys: Reels: Good luck and enjoy!
