Hi friends, Jori (and Lauree) encouraged me to post regarding my first bagpipe competition experience, so I agreed. I hope old timers can have a good life and fellow newbies can get up the guts to go compete. I competed in the Grade 4 Piobaireachd and 2/4 March. MWPBA does not have a Grade 5 solo level, although they do have an Adult Novice level. I suppose I should be in the Adult Novice category since I've only been playing for about a year but since I was allowed to choose, I went into Grade 4 because I wanted to push myself harder. I don't regret the decision but it wouldn't be a good decision for everyone. I've been performing music and speaking in public since I was a preschooler and have judged school music contest for decades so I do not have nerves or stage fright and I do not find competition any more ...
