Piobaireachd consists of some of the most ancient tunes in the pipers repertoire. However, just as the art of piobaireachd playing flourishes in our modern era, so too are modern piobaireachd being composed. One of my favorite modern piobaireachd tunes is Andrew MacNeil of Colonsay by William Barrie. I know Bill's son, Jim, who is a prominent piping judge here in the Pacific NW. With Bill's permission, I'm pleased to share this tune with you here on the Studio. Enjoy this recording of the tune, as I played it to win first place at the Cameron-Gillies Championship at the Dr. Dan Reid Memorial Invitational a few years back.
