This coming weekend is one the biggest weekends of the year in the piping world: Kansas City Winter Storm. The event features world-class and amateur level competitions in solo piping and drumming, workshops, and one of the most exciting piping concerts anywhere. This year you can watch the competitions and concert from home. Visit the Winter Storm website for how to log on to the video stream. I will be competing in two events, the Gold Medal Piobaireachd and the Gold Medal Ceol Beag — which has a qualifier in the morning where I will play a march, strathspey and reel selected by judges and a final of the top six players who get to play an march, strathspey, reel, hornpipe and jig of the player's own choice.
