Get the Pipes Out! — March 11, 2024

The Short Version

A group play-along only works if you can actually hear me over your own pipes. Turn your device volume all the way up, or wear earbuds. Every tune starts the same way: drones up, a spoken count, then in on the beat.
A tuner is a running diagnostic, not a one-time fix. If your pipes are perfectly in tune and then drift five or ten minutes later, that instability is telling you something real about your reed and your blowing — it's worth chasing down, not just re-taping.
Tricky pickup notes get easier once you hear them as a shape, not a guess. The pickup into the fourth tune in this set is the same dotted-eighth-note triplet figure that opens Bonnie Dundee — once you recognize the pattern, the counting takes care of itself.
