Timing problems are almost always technique problems in disguise. When a note lands late or a cut feels rushed, the fix usually isn't more metronome drilling — it's getting comfortable with the actual gracenote combination first. Clean technique makes the timing fall into place on its own.
In a jig, unison beats style every time. Whether or not you add the faintest pulse to a triplet matters far less than everyone in the group playing at exactly the same speed and in the same style. Lose the unison and you lose the clarity, no matter how good any one player sounds alone.
